a postcard from the edge: i'm already wet and i'm gonna go swimming
dear reader,

i don't mean to be didactic. but i thought i should give you all the facts about my current affliction.

ba·nal: adj.
Drearily commonplace and often predictable; trite: “Blunt language cannot hide a banal conception” (James Wolcott).

i'm taking an extended hiatus from livejournal.

i was wearing my confidence like a chainmail dress. his words slipped in between. perhaps he could not see my heart i safety pinned to my sleeve.

now, i am stripped. better to expose all the flaws than to wear those gaudy rags, yes?

i shall skinny dip in the cesspool of mediocrity until my fingers get pruny. until i am tired of swimming. until i drown, and small children poke at my bloated corpse with those leaf skimmer things.

i'm sorry.

You know Briana, I wrote an AWESOME response to this last night, and it seems to have not posted for whatever reason. Anyways, here's my idea: you should pull a sgt pepper on your lj. Instead of posting as yourself, you should post as someone else, possibly a drugged out 1960s marching band member wearing a pastel uniform. Then, you can escape the doldrum's of your current lj life and move into something more fulfilling. And hey, it worked for the Beatles; despite ever-rising tensions, they still put out the White Album, Let It Be, and Abbey Road, unquestionably three of the greatest albums ever, after the Lonely Heart's Club Band experiment (I'm putting the Magical Mystery Tour under the Sgt Pepper umbrella as a somewhat escapist album where they're putting on costumes, escaping from their identities, etc). So there's my 5 cents :)

Anyways, it will be sad not seeing any LJ postings from briana anytime in the near future. Come back soon!! :)

PS - this post was a helluvalot cooler last night. bleh.
